Valle de Oron is a sumptuous Ribera del Duero wine from Bodegas Familia Chavarri, who harvest Tempranillo grapes from their vineyards in La Cueva de Roa. Fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 28ºC, maceration for 15 days and continuous pump-overs for good colour extraction. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and the rest in bottle before release.
Deep cherry red with a garnet rim, the wine shows strong varietal aromas of raspberry and blackberry alongside spices such as vanilla, liquorice and clove. The palate brings tasty ripe fruit and spice, toasty notes and ripe, well integrated tannins. Try with spaghetti bolognese, lamb and beef casseroles, barbecue dishes, or mature cheeses.
The Chavarri family have always been involved in the land and wine, with four generations of winegrowers. They own vineyards across Spain: Ribera del Duero, Rias Baixas and their origin of Rioja Alavesa where they founded the oldest winery in 1882.
