Part of the Santa Alba range from Chile’s Vina Alto Roble, this Carmenere uses grapes from the Central Valley region; one of the largest wine regions of the country with a wide mix of terroirs to suit a wide variety of grapes. After sorting, the native Carmenere grapes are are vinified with no oak to retain the grapes’ fresh, primary fruit character.
Exhibiting a deep red colour with violet highlights, the nose shows expressive notes of blackberry, blond tobacco and a spicy touch. With a smooth mouth entry, the medium palate brings the aromas into flavours, with well-balanced tannins and a pleasant finish. Try with mushroom risotto, lamb or pork tacos or empanadas, or mature hard cheeses.
Vina Alto Roble was founded in 1993 with the aim to find new terroirs to produce a wider range of grape varieties and wine styles. Winemaking is led by Eloísa Uribe, exclusively since 2002, who has extensive experience including several years in the Sonoma Valley and Bordeaux.
