Folklore Calusarii Cabernet-Merlot

This sweet blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot wine is vinified to be luxuriously sweet, with grapes harvested from vineyards in the Minis Maderat wine region. Part of the Romanian Folklore range, it aims to return to traditions with native wine styles. 

Named ‘Calusarii’, it has the deepest ruby appearance, with elegant aromas of black cherry, dark chocolate and ripe berries. A discreet nutty flavour is added on the sumptuously textured palate, with a long, embellished finish. Try with duck breast, panettone, chocolate desserts or blue cheeses. 

The tradition of Calușari originates from the ancient times of Dacia and still preserves its essence today. The Calușari are said to have been priests of the solar cult, and, led by a high priest, their dances were considered to help in the fight against evil spirits that had taken over the villages.
