Casa Velha white is created by the Adega de Favaios co-operative in Douro, Portugal. Viosinho, Gouveio and Moscatel Galego Branco grapes are harvested from the high schist slopes of Douro at an altitude of 450-580m. Fermented in stainless steel followed by 5 months ageing on fine lees, creating roundness whilst keeping it beautifully fresh.
This engaging wine shows initial tropical aromas of pineapple, ripe melon and pear, before secondary aromas of lemon zest and orange peel. Harmonious mouth feel with a palate of pineapple, raw coconut and peached that further develops into citric and eucalyptus notes alongside lively acidity. Try with baked or grilled fish, cod dishes, vegetable stews or rustic bread and olives.
Adega de Favaios in the heart of the Douro Valley is a cooperative who care for each one of their grapes with passion. They started this association in 1952 and the winery combines new technology with the region’s centuries old winemaking traditions. These Douro wines from Adega de Favaios focus on quality at a lower price by simply embracing the future by taking care of the past.
