Organically cultivated, night hand harvested Verdejo grapes are from vineyards in Segovia, the most southeastern area of Rueda and the highest in elevation at 2,800ft. Native yeasts are used for low temperature fermentation in stainless steel, with racking and further lees contact for two months ensure excellent volume and freshness.
The result is a classic young Verdejo of lemon appearance and white stone fruit aromas. The palate brings peach, nectarine and a hint of white plum balancing refreshing acidity with some soft herbaceous tones in the background. Try with citrus enhanced dishes such as stuffed vine leaves or seafood salads, Mexican cuisine such as fish tacos and chicken enchiladas or goats cheese.
Miguel Arroyo is the fourth generation of winemakers in his family and used his expertise to expand their Verdejo vineyards to 106 acres with a new winery to match, established 15 years ago and specialising on creating serious Verdejo wines with ageing potential.
