A fine and elegant Spanish wine from the Condado de Huelva region of Andalucia, made from the Zalema grape sourced from 5 vineyards in the Donana national park, where calcareous soils are rich in iron. Low temperature fermentation in stainless steel, skin contact and ageing on its fine lees produces a smooth and complex wine.
Vina Barradero is bright yellow with gold and green highlights. Aromas of white flowers, orange blossom, citrus, herbaceous and balsamic hints of green apple and pineapple. The palate is similar with fresh acidity, slightly saline and with a rich and long finish. Try with seafood, fish and rice dishes.
Next to the National Park of Donana, an area of preserved natural beauty, Bodegas Contreras Ruiz champions the local Zalema grape. Their goal is to make complex wines, where this single grape variety is expressed in different ways according to site and soil.
Having converted a substantial portion of their vineyards to organic viticulture they are aiming to have certified wines within the next few years.
