This Italian Pecorino harvests grapes from vineyards of sandy limestone soils near the coastal influence of Chieti, Abruzzo. Grapes are de-stemmed and crushed before pressing. Controlled temperature fermentation, ageing on the lees for 3-5 months, and further time in stainless steel before bottling.
Arenile Pecorino presents as pale yellow with green hues on its edges. A very fresh, clean wine with exotic fruit on the nose, a rounded palate, pleasant minerality and good acidity.
Try with light starters, fish dishes such as sushi or grilled salmon, or soft cheese.
Cantina Ripa Teatina is an ambitious, energetic cooperative that is producing great quality, deliciously fruity wines in Abruzzo. Started in 1969 and based near Chieti, not far from the coast, it has now grown to 400 members and covers 700 hectares.
